Visiting shrines has been practiced since the Edo period, but it became more popular during the Meiji period. In addition, it is said that "until the age of seven is a child of the gods," but it is said that by visiting the ujigami on the occasion of the child's 7th birthday, he or she can formally join the parishioners. Nationwide, November 15th is the Shichi-go-san celebration, but in Hokkaido, due to the climate, October 15th is the Shichi-go-san celebration, and it is spreading all over Hokkaido.
